Emergency Housing Vouchers Webinar

Homeward if hosting a webinar to inform and engage landlords in the Richmond region about a new program that can benefit them. In advance of the webinar, we thought it would be helpful to share some frequently asked questions we’ve received from landlords. The webinar is scheduled for Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 12pm – 1:30pm. If you’d like to learn more about the program, please be sure register online here in advance.

What is this webinar about?
Homeward is working with our partners in the Greater Richmond Continuum of Care (GRCoC), the Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority, and Virginia Housing to implement new resources to fight homelessness. Emergency Housing Vouchers (EHV) were funded as part of the American Rescue Plan Act to reduce homelessness by providing a sustainable housing resource. Emergency Housing Vouchers are targeted to households with long experiences of homelessness. GRCoC partners work to support households in submitting the required documentation and in securing affordable and safe housing. Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority (RRHA) and Virginia Housing work to engage landlords in providing this needed resource and in enabling stable housing and rent payments. Homeward and RRHA are hosting a landlord engagement webinar to share the details of this new resource including landlord incentives and opportunities.

Why should I participate?
This EHV program is truly a win-win for landlords and tenants. It covers the rental costs of program participants, providing stable housing for clients while creating a guaranteed source of payment for landlords. You can benefit from the program with this secured source of rental income.

How do I register?
Registration is required for the webinar and will remain open until the webinar begins. Register online here.

On behalf of Homeward, we want to thank Mayor Levar Stoney, City Council President Michael Jones, Committee Chair and Councilmember Stephanie Lynch, all of the members of Richmond’s City Council, and the truly dedicated members of the City administration for making this significant and compassionate expansion of homeless assistance available. For 25 years, our community has come together across organizational and jurisdictional differences with a shared goal of reducing the crisis of homelessness.

Margot Ackermann, Ph.D. is a self-described data enthusiast. At Homeward, she’s particularly proud of using data to help improve the world in tangible ways. Her incredible efforts and enormous impact were honored on November 16th at the 2023 Virginia Governor’s Housing Conference in Hampton. Margot was the inaugural recipient of the Housing Leadership Award. We may be a little biased, but we can’t think of anyone more deserving of this accolade than Margot.
